About the data
The Local Set is a source-checked local music guide in beta. Listings are reviewed against public venue, festival, community-calendar, and public social event pages. Latest accepted catalog refresh: October 13, 2026 (America/New_York). Listings are checked on different dates; a catalog refresh does not mean every event was rechecked. Nothing here comes from a private database or is generated by inference, and missing-show suggestions stay out of the catalog until a public listing is independently checked.
“The Local Set” is a working name for this beta, not a cleared or registered trademark.
What’s in the snapshot

- 570 leads left out because they couldn’t be safely checked against a public listing
This retained snapshot includes past listings. Discovery and artist or venue schedules show upcoming counts using the current New York time; the totals below describe the whole retained snapshot.

This is a broad snapshot of safe public listings, not a promise of every show. Some venues only publish behind logins or inaccessible social pages, and those remain outside the catalog.
How listings are checked
Every event card and detail page carries one of three honest confidence labels — and a label never claims more checking than actually happened:

Listings can change after they are reviewed — for a big night out, confirm with the venue.
Unknowns stay unknown
When a public listing doesn’t state a fact, we say so instead of guessing:
- 599 events — cover/price not listed or ambiguous
- 1004 events — age policy not listed
- 1092 events — chair policy not listed
- 1101 events — BYOB policy not listed
- 654 events — indoor/outdoor not listed
- 202 events publish a date but no start time — those show “Time not listed”, never 12:00 AM, and export as all-day calendar entries.
Artist bios and genres appear only when a public listing provides them; most profiles say “Profile details not yet sourced” because inventing them would be worse than admitting the gap.
Locations and directions
49 venues are geocoded to an exact venue point; 99 are approximated at their town’s locality center and are always labeled that way. For approximate venues, the directions button searches the venue name near its town instead of routing you to a centroid as if it were the front door.
Corrections and suggestions
The correction form on each event is preview-only in this beta: it composes the report locally and sends nothing. The separate missing-show form creates a moderation lead, not a public event. It must be checked against a public listing and deduplicated before a later catalog build can include it. This app also has no accounts or analytics — saves and follows stay in your browser’s storage.
